Red lorries supporting a greener company.

Dear Customer,

Whilst continuing to focus on ensuring the high levels of service our customers have come to expect we are also working hard to reach our target of becoming net carbon neutral.  Today we are pleased to announce another big step in our journey as we commence testing a new product designed to help further reduce our energy (fuel) usage.

Working with our partners CLS Energy and Transport Equipment Innovations, we are trialling five articulated trunking vehicles at our Falkirk depot with technology that creates air vortexes around the vehicle body work helping to improve the aerodynamics of each vehicle. These five trucks travel a combined annual mileage of 800,000 miles using circa 89,000 gallons of fuel per year. We are positive that trials will confirm our belief that our annual energy (fuel) usage can be significantly reduced.

Today’s trial represents the latest commitment in a number of areas of investment in recent years to further reduce our carbon emissions.  To date we have implemented Euro 6 trucks and a fleet of electric forklifts.  We have standardised trailer heights, introduced Aerodeck trailers low energy rolling tyres and warehouse LED sensor activated lighting all of which are lowering our impact on the environment.

As we continue to work towards being a greener company; embracing future technologies to lower our carbon footprint and therefore that of our customers we hope you will join us in working to make the environments better for everyone.

Many thanks.
